2020 Language Goals

My language learning goals for 2020 include learning Japanese to a B2 level and Intermediate/Advanced Koine Greek to a C1 reading level and a B1 speaking level. I will use using an eclectic mix of approaches and resources and will update my progress as well as review resources on this blog. Along the way we will learn about basic linguistics, the way different languages work, how to remember facts and information better, how to study and learn, how to plan and organize one’s time, and how to approach language learning in general as well as for specific languages.

My public transparency will serve as accountability for myself, an example for my students, and teaching by example. Learning a language is fun, exhilarating, exciting and very hard work. It requires daily commitment and full participation in another way of seeing and understanding the world. I know what it’s like to struggle, to reach plateaus, to be confused and to get tired, bored or lost. I know these things because I am a language learner as well as a teacher of languages. So far, I have studied and learned (to varying degrees) English, French, Spanish, Kreyol, Ancient Greek including Koine, Classical and Modern Hebrew, Swahili, Japanese, Amharic and Korean. If you are willing, I will help you learn a language.
